2. Lambeth Summer Projects Trust
The initiative serving schools in Clapham will be based at the Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton. The PCC has spoken at length to the project manager, PC Neil Hagerty, and is satisfied that children in the local area will benefit from the trust. Further information can be obtained the website:

3. Age UK Lambeth
A grant might be directed to the Befriending Service. Further information is available on the website:

4. Kids City
Kids City run before and after-school schemes and holiday playschemes, which we offer at not-for-profit rates to the majority of families and where through fundraising and work with schools and agencies, Kids City also provide heavily subsidised and free places for children in need. Examples include children experiencing domestic violence, bereavement, parental ill health, children with disabilities etc. For whatever reason a family finds it difficult to meet their children’s needs, Kids City help to pick up the slack.

The Abbeville Fete 2011 is over for another year, and it was fantastic. Thanks to everyone who came and supported our charities, everyone who volunteered, ran an event or performed at the Fete, all the traders who took stalls, the police, the fire brigade, everyone behind the scenes, and all our magnificent sponsors.
We’re still adding up the figures and chasing the last few payments, so we don’t have a final total for the day’s fundraising, but we can report that the silent auction alone raised more than £6000. And every penny the Fete makes goes to charity.
Meanwhile next year’s fete will take place on Saturday 30th June 2012, and if you’re interested in helping to making it happen then please drop us a line: info@abbevillefete.com. We’d love to hear from you.

As well as the sponsors mentioned in the programme book (which you can download from here), we want to acknowledge and thank two others who have recently come on board. They are:
Hamptons the Estate Agents, sponsoring the fete bar, the performance by ‘Band of Two’, and the on-the-day leaflets.
Kremer Signs, sponsoring additional signage.

The 2011 Abbeville Fete will be held on Saturday 25th June, opening at noon and closing at 4pm. The theme for the event will be JUNGLE.
Everything’s in place for the event, and we’re hoping the weather will hold out and it’ll be another fantasic year. Meanwhile, can anyone advise on whether there are jungle fairies? We have a three-year-old who’s very firm on what dress she’s going to wear for the fancy-dress parade….

We again attracted huge crowds to the Abbeville Road neighbourhood, proving once again the worth of this simple community event with a purpose, which gives such pleasure to all who take part. With other streets in the neighbourhood starting their events, we know we’re on to a good thing!
The bar, the barbecue, teas and cakes actually took more money than last year, and the Silent Auction matched 2008.
See you all next year!
