We were so lucky to enjoy a great day for the 2010 Abbeville Fete, avoiding the Great Heat (in every sense) of Sunday.
We again attracted huge crowds to the Abbeville Road neighbourhood, proving once again the worth of this simple community event with a purpose, which gives such pleasure to all who take part. With other streets in the neighbourhood starting their events, we know we’re on to a good thing!
Some early news: We’re still collecting the funds from donors, but it looks like we may match last year’s net income of £15,000. Some traders have been hit hard, so to get near previous years’ revenue today is a tribute to everyone who took part. Our five charities should be very pleased.
The bar, the barbecue, teas and cakes actually took more money than last year, and the Silent Auction matched 2008.
We were delighted to welcome so many musicians this year, with groups from Lambeth Academy, St Mary’s school, Macaulay school, South London Choir, Hogiau Llundain, Barry Fantoni ensemble. It sounded great!
See you all next year!
